Sound panels are great, and I have put them on all sides of my office/studio. But what happens if you can’t put things on the wall or need movable sound panels? Free-standing sound panels have entered the building and are a legit option here.
These are panels that aren’t attached to the wall or ceiling. But they are on their own stand (aka tripod). Here are the ones I currently use.
These work well, buffer the sound and might look decent in the background. That all depends on what you are going for, of course. Here’s how it currently looks for me:
The biggest downfall with these is that it took some figuring out how to put them together. A bit of screwing things together, and it was all set, though.
When shopping for these, make sure you are getting actual sound panels and not just room dividers. Plenty of products out there show up in free standing panel in the background. They aren’t made for the live streamers and podcasts of the world. Those are basically cubicles. We need something that helps us potentially soundproof the room so we sound as good as we can on the streams.
Another thing I like about the mobile ones is that if you don’t want or need them around all the time, they are easy enough to move.
