David Meerman Scott has been a thought leader in the marketing arena for years. He played an active role in the definition and development of “inbound marketing” and the launch of HubSpot, which, of course, many of us (me, too!) use for marketing.

At the right intervals, David Meerman Scott has published updated editions of “The New Rules of Marketing and PR.” The 9th edition dropped in 2024. I really appreciate him including me in his international best-selling book. And there’s always something to learn. Here’s my initial biggest take-away from the 9th Edition:

Public relations and marketing really are not that far apart in a digital world. Offline – hello 1990s – sure I get it. But today, not so much.

I missed that little important fact in my ongoing effort to learn new things. That’s even though David joined me previously on “The Business Storytelling Show” for Episode 642 to discuss the 8th Edition of the book.
