When Grammarly first launched in 2009, I was not impressed. Of course, no software solution is perfect on Day 1 anyway—usually. Today, Grammarly is my go-to autopilot for word usage, and I’ve used it in many apps. But how about Grammarly on Mac? Yes, please. I use that, too, now.
I didn’t even know about the Grammarly on Mac app until somewhat recently. So, since I’ve been fanboying over it, I thought, I would share it here briefly.
By the way, you can download Grammarly for…
- Mac
- Safari
- iPhone and iPad
- Android
After navigating to the Apps section on your Mac, click on “install.” This will download the install package, which you then click on and give permission to install.
From there, it gets added to all the different programs and apps on your Mac. For example, here’s how it looks in iMessage.
Clicking on the “G” will get me any recommendations or tell me I did great.
Clicking on the icon next to it opens the AI assistant, which offers ideas on how to change the tone. If that’s what I’m after.
If you don’t want Grammarly checking your writing everywhere, you can easily turn it off app by app by clicking on the settings wheel.
But, overall, adding this Grammarly installation has been fantastic. It’s helping me be clearer in my messages and even improve my writing – and that’s in all the apps I use every day.
