It’s super easy to share your podcast on Instagram and even include a link for people to listen.
I noticed that Spotify allows sharing to Instagram Stories. It links back to the audio on Spotify so people can actually listen to it and don’t have to go searching for it or click on the link in the bio.
Certainly, I’m always a fan of trying new ways to drive engagement, consumption, and especially clicks to content. Being able to share content on Instagram Stories is one more way to do that.
Let me show you how to do it.
How to share your podcast on Instagram
Find the podcast in the Spotify app. Click on the three dots by the episode you want to share.
Then you get these options:
Just like you would for any network to share click Instagram Story.
It simply copies over to IG Stories as a story.
There’s no audio until people click “Play in Spotify” but you can add animations as with all IG Stories.
For users to listen they have to click on the small Spotify tag in the top left. Maybe consider putting a pointing arrow toward that area so it’s not as easy to miss.
Once clicked you are prompted to go to Spotify.
It’s another distribution channel that I keep playing with to get my podcast in front of even more potential listeners.
If you share all your podcast Instagram Stories – which I would recommend – consider adding them as an Instagram Story highlights tap as well. This article explains how to do that.
If you have Facebook Stories sharing enabled it also pushes to your Facebook account. There, viewers can click to listen as well.
Additionally, you can also now add a link to a landing page or the Spotify version by using the add a link function which is available for everyone.
Linking to show notes
Consider using the insert link function to also give listeners the option to read the show notes. Here’s how to simply add a link to wherever you host those notes:
Podcast teasers in Instagram Stories
Another idea on how to use this functionality even further is to post a couple of teasers before linking to the Spotify version. Here’s how I did that on a guest appearance.
So basically I uploaded the teasers first and then followed the Spotify process from above on the last story to give people an opportunity to listen to the rest.
If you need to download the audio of these clips afterward, you can use an Insta audio download converter like this one.
I’m always a fan to maximize my content across different networks and this is just another idea on how to make more use of your podcast episodes. It might be especially worthwhile if you have a good following on Instagram.
Does the posting to Instagram Stories drive a lot of clicks? That depends on how big your audience on that network is. If you have a ton of people looking at your Stories the chance of listening goes up.
