Approval hell is unfortunately something many content marketers still have to go through to get any kind of stories published.
I’m not talking about multiple people editing a story here. Multiple sets of eyes are great and necessary. But approval hell is when all kinds of people have approval or rejection rights for something to get published. Give too many people the power and they all will want to use it.
It slows down content marketing projects unnecessarily and can actually discourage employees from sharing their authentic stories.
Authentic storytelling projects should be simple. Stories are lived and then shared with purpose. Sure, if the sharing happens on an organization’s site, somebody probably should review stories, but reasonable reviews should not turn into approval hell. Nobody wants to live there.
