In AI storytelling change is the only constant. Just think how AI tools have continuously evolved, reshaping the landscape of corporate storytelling along the way. From basic autocomplete to sophisticated language models, we’ve witnessed a rapid progression in AI capabilities. Each new iteration – including ChatGPT-4 Turbo with Vision – brings fresh possibilities for content creators like myself.

This new feature promises to add another dimension to AI storytelling, and I was eager to explore its potential. To help me understand the implications, I invited Dan Sanchez, known as the AI-driven marketer, to join me on Episode 670 of “The Business Storytelling Podcast.”

AI and reasoning ability

Dan’s explained what sets this update apart.

“This new version is exciting because it’s the first model that has reasoning ability baked into it,” he said. “It actually reasons through what you’re asking it for for a few seconds, or sometimes a whole minute, before it actually delivers the output.”

It’s not just about generating content faster; it’s about creating more thoughtful, nuanced content that truly understands the context and intent behind our prompts.

“Even if you do something like ask it for a typical thing, you might do a Google search for, like, I live in Nashville. There’s a lot of cool things to do in Nashville, right?” Dan explained. “It’ll actually take 7-10, 15 seconds to think like, okay, looking through the initial list, vetting for what’s off the beaten path, checking to see if it’s careful if it’s free, if it’s appropriate for children to participate, compiling a final list and then delivering the results.”

This level of sophistication means we can now rely on AI to not just generate content, but to curate and refine it in ways that previously required human intervention.

Implications for storytelling

As a corporate storyteller, I’m always looking for ways to make my narratives more engaging and relevant. GPT-4 Turbo with Vision opens up new possibilities in this realm, Dan said.

Dan shared an example of using AI to generate a strategic narrative for a podcast agency with ChatGPT-4 Turbo with Vision.

“I was literally just, just on Sunday, putting in a very generic prompt. I said, write an Andy Raskin style strategic narrative for the podcast agency. Make sure it speaks to the needs of B2B marketers and incorporates a strong narrative that differentiates the company from its competitors.”

The result, according to Dan, was impressive.

“Oh, I wish I would have had this a couple years ago when we were working on this, because it was good.”

There is potential for creating hyper-personalized content at scale.

“If you do just a few pieces of information, the AI’s ability to scale, customize the emails, the text messages, or other owned media is now possible. You couldn’t do it before. You can only madlib your way through automation so much. But AI is creative, and it can fill in those stories, especially if you give it very tight parameters, and you test it with all kinds of different things.”

The future

As content creators, we need to stay adaptable.

As Dan put it, “The ones who embrace the tool sooner will be able to get ahead, because they’ll be able to do more work better and faster than the normal people world, because they’ll know how to they’ll know the words for the style that they want.”

GPT-4 Turbo with Vision is a new collaborator in the creative process. It’s up to us to learn how to work with it effectively, to use its strengths to enhance our storytelling rather than replace our unique voices.

As I look to the future, I see AI not as a threat, but as a powerful ally in our quest to tell more compelling, more personalized stories. The future of storytelling is here, and it’s more exciting than ever. Are you ready to embrace it?
